Yogan Pillay

Director, HIV & TB Delivery

Yogan Pillay leads the foundation’s efforts to strengthen TB & HIV Program Delivery globally. He joined the foundation in 2023, having served as South Africa country director and senior director for universal health coverage at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI).

Earlier, Yogan served as deputy director-general of health in South Africa’s Department of Health, where he was responsible for health programs.

Yogan has a Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has co-written two textbooks on global health and co-edited books on mental health and on the South African health system. He has also authored or co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles.

In 2018, Yogan was awarded a Karel Styblo Medallion in recognition of his contributions to tuberculosis (TB) control efforts and a certificate of appreciation for leadership in the global fight against TB by KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation.

In 2021, Yogan was appointed extraordinary professor in the Division of Health Systems and Public Health within the Department of Global Health at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
